Husband-and-wife team Jack and Rowe have been known for their buko pies since 2009. Buko, or young coconut pies are one of the more popular Filipino desserts. Jack and Rowe are the first bakers in Northern California to offer buko pies with ube flavor.
Like many bakers who started at home, Jack and Rowe have used Airmart as their main ordering platform. Previously, they were taking orders via Facebook and Instagram DMs and email. The two found that Airmart made the whole process more efficient and less time-consuming for both them and the customers.
“Airmart serves as our bakery website,” Rowe said. It’s easy to navigate and showcases our products and upcoming events.”

The Sweet Pipers Story
Sweet Pipers began as a small side hustle, serving Filipino desserts for holidays and just a few events each year. The pair then decided to expand the bakery business with a commercial kitchen, licensing, and permits in April of 2021. They sold their sweets online for pickup and delivery and brought their bakery pop-up to dozens of events around the Bay Area.
Now, thanks to their success on Airmart, the couple has opened a brick-and-mortar bakery in Pinole, CA.
Filipino Desserts in the Bay Area
Sweet Pipers’ popular pastries include Hawaiian butter mochi cakes topped with ube, dulce de leche, hazelnut, pineapple, or salted egg, cassava topped with ube or dulce de leche, and mini chiffon cakes.
The ube craze means more competition for their bakery, but Jack and Rowe are confident in their offerings. They keep the menu unique with varying Island-inspired flavors. Curious customers can taste samples of the Filipino desserts at every event.
You can now find Sweet Pipers at their brand-new bakery location in Pinole, CA!
