Ube Galore Breads & More

Meet the Filipino ube dessert empire that’s taking over the Bay Area.

Joann Serrano’s passion for baking began years ago in the Phillippines, where she sold wedding and birthday cakes while working as a dentist.

When she migrated to the United States, Joann put the bakery on pause and pursued her dreams in the medical field. She became a nursing assistant and later worked in admin at Stanford Hospital.

In July 2020, the pandemic lockdown finally allowed Joana to revisit the baking business she’d started back home in the Phillippines.

Now, she runs the uber-successful Ube Galore Breads & More along with her business partner-husband and an assistant baker.

Ube Galore is one of many Filipino bakeries focused on ube desserts in the Bay Area. Joann believes the personalized service she offers sets her bakery apart from the rest. “There’s a lot of Filipino market-goers in our area, and I’m very in touch with those customers.”

The Filipino ube dessert shop’s best-selling products are the ube milky cheese rolls in the bread category and the ube cheesecake swirl bars and ube mochi brownies in the dessert category.

Filipino Ube Desserts in the Bay Area

Joann and her team bring their ube pastries to farmer’s markets in Millbrae, Burlingame, and Union City, as well as food events and pop-ups all around the Bay Area. Last year, Ube Galore participated in UbeFest and Foodieland. The bakery is also a regular vendor at Kaiser Permanente events.

Airmart makes it easy for Ube Galore to create pop-up shops with customized menus for every event they attend.

Before joining the platform, Joann relied on social media and the farmer’s markets to bring in orders. Now, she enjoys the accessibility of Airmart. It makes marketing her business easy and enables her to bring her ube desserts to even more customers with the Bay Area-wide delivery option.

“Airmart is very accommodating for my business,” she shared. “I can track who has paid and how, so if people pre-order products for events, I don’t have to do a lot of searching back and forth.”

Currently, Joann and the Ube Galore team are gearing up for a busy spring and summer. The bakery will be expanding its Bay Area empire with a full calendar of food festivals and outdoor markets.
